Technical Highlights of Torque Measuring

05. January 2005

The main focus in the area of torque measuring is the development and the production of high-resolution torque and speed measuring systems for the acquisition of stationary and high dynamic processes. In addition to the standard systems special measuring flanges are available which are equipped with a second measuring range.

The dual range systems consist of two separate measuring amplifiers which access a collective to one strain gange array and transmit their signal completely independent from each other via two IR-telemetry channels to the stationary receiver unit. By an individual calibration of the measuring ranges and the provision of a specific characteristic value each measurement range shows an accuracy of 0.1 % or better from the respective final value. For the performance of efficiency measurements the low linearity and hysteresis errors of the torque measuring system and the failure-free and accurate signal transmission tracks inclusive the CAN-Bus data transfer via CAN-Bus are benefits.

Additionally, steps in the field of temperature stability have been taken to improve the compensation of the temperature related zero drift. By increasing the number of the temperature measuring points integrated into the measuring body to a total of four, the influence of changing environmental temperatures and gradients could be minimized to very low values. Thus, the demands of extreme operating conditions of different test bench producers and operators can be achieved.

Henceforward on the series types F1 and F2 for high speed machines can be operated as a stand alone version. The evaluation unit integrated into the stator is to purchase as Stator All in One. Additional all specific data of the measuring sensor are saved in the sensor itself and checked in terms of plausibility when activating the system.
